BIKINI HISTORY

(Photos from: here)

I was browsing the internet and stumbled across this little gem of a gallery at the Elle Magazine website. Seems appropriate now that we’re going into summer and all. But I was especially taken by the earlier photos that could only be in black and white. Such great photos. And it’s such an interesting topic. For me anyway. I had no idea that bikini’s, bare bellies and butts were acceptable in the 40′s! The 30′s even! I thought they were still wearing long johns. I stand corrected. Nice to know I could have slightly fit in back then.

It was a nice little bikini history.. refresher.

HANGING WITH PIÑA

The Adventures of Piña the Pineapple
(Photos by: Cassandra Rull) (Jacket: Rag & Bone, Top: J. Crew, Jeans: Current/Elliot, Sandals: Rood & Haan Co., Nail Polish: Essie)

Like I said before.. I’ve been incredibly busy [super duper busy] lately and haven’t spent nearly as much time as I’d like scouring the internet for cool things. My days on the internet have boiled down to tumblr via my phone. Ladyslider has been lacking.. I know. And I’m sorry. It makes me so sad to see the days go by and this poor little space on the world wide web go untouched. It makes me really sad.

On another note, I have been buzzing around and working on this new project.. that I am sure you will see really soon. One of the things I am working on involved a pineapple. So I buzzed over to Foodland on the North Shore for a quick coffee/snack break and picked up who I now call Piña. I decided that she had a story to tell.. so I took her on a little adventure. She got to hang out with Cassandra for lunch, watch the waves for a bit, eat some poke, from Kahuku Superette etc. etc. She had a great time. Hehe.

But now that I hung with Piña over the weekend I don’t have the heart to eat her!!

GREEN AND GREEN

(Photos by: Michele Leong) (Top: T by Alexander Wang, Shorts: Quiksilver Women, Sandals: Cole, Rood & Haan Co., Jewelry: Dezso by Sara Beltran, Hinu Jewelry)

I have been so incredibly exhausted the last couple of weeks. So much things going on!! Exciting things too. But I am pretty sure I have aged 10 years and got hit hard with some age defining lines. Double the wrinkles. Not so exciting.

But I killed two birds with one stone today and got to hang at a coffee shop with a dear friend and work at the same time. I guess that might be three stones because I don’t often hang at coffee shops. I should more though. Wait.. four stones because I actually took photos too. Hmm. So much accomplished! How sick is that green wall?? Such a great color. Nothin’ but green.

I got me some killer deals on my tee and sandals from Nordstrom Rack on a quickie shopping trip the other day. So stoked. I love good staple items for my closet on a budget. I am going to wear them to death. So if you see me around I will probably be wearing one of the above. Now that you know them you can say “oh haayy” when you see them.. on me.

Alright friends. Back to work. See you round! I’m gonna be green fo’ daze.

OREGON COAST | MINI SLIDING

(Photos by: SUM NUT)

My big sis just sent me the most amazing photos of a little trip they took to the Oregon coast. My favorite little people got groovy on some logs, did some fully-clothed swimming, and roosted a few. My mini (well.. I’d like to think she is my mini. I want to be as cool as her some day) got a sweet little log ride similar to mine on a recent Beach Comb. I can’t get over it! So rad! I would almost consider these photos in the fashion category.. how rad is the little mans outfit?? That Norsk sweater!! He’s looking extra fab in his red and yellow combo. And my mini’s fur jacket, stripe leggings, and layering.. I should be taking fashion queues from them!!

I’m so stoked on these photos. I definitely need to plan a trip back to Oregon real soon to visit kindred and embark on some cold water adventures.

Missing and loving these little mini sliding kiddos!!

EASTER SURF DAY

(Photos by: TR)

A few days late.. but Easter surf day in the haze and rain was a necessary activity. I don’t really have to write [type] much because it is written in the waves.. in the waves!! Like a crazy person I wrote whatever came to my head.

I cannot explain to you the joy of surfing with friends. I think I might even be a little grumpy when I surf by myself.. I definitely smile less. But with friends.. with girl friends.. you cannot help but smile on every wave…

..even if you’re surfing on Easter in the haze.

EASTER DAZE

Spent Easter Sunday in good company, with good food, and being blessed with an everlasting promise! It was such a beautiful day. The weather stayed sunny and breezy while we sat in grass eating yummy food and chatting with friends. And even though it may have gotten a tad stormy.. we ended up surfing anyway. Cannot go a Sunday.. especially an Easter Sunday.. without surfing!

I recently got my E&J top and thought it was appropriate for Easter.. floral, pastel colors, etc. My man and I somehow dressed appropriately and looked like a couple from the 70′s. Personally, I think I kind of looked like a hippie man from the 70′s with my hair down. But whatever. Hahah.

To an Easter Sunday Daze.. Happy Easter Everyone!

POST SLIDE

I don’t like cleaning up after a surf session. By then I am so tired and I’m in no mood to put my board away or peel off my surf attire. You would never know by the surf photos (because TR really captured amazing moments) but I got a major beating on some of the bigger set waves. Oh, the sacrifices we make for a good shot. I woke up the next morning with my entire body aching. Even my abs hurt.. which is rare. They rarely get a work out. Haha.

So.. I’m still obsessed with my Quality Peoples tee. I think it looks best when it is drenched in salt water. It’s a t-shirt that belongs in the sea and should always have a little bit of wax on it. I could stare at that photo of the tee drying on my board all day. I just like how that photo looks in general.

Until the next sliding session and clean up..

SUNDAY SLIDING

(Photos by: TR) (T-Shirt: Quality Peoples, Swimsuit: Billabong)

Spent my Sunday playing in the waves and getting major skin damage [my buttocks and lower back got nailed by the sun.] Thankfully, that handy-dandy shirt I’m wearing helped protect the rest of my body courtesy of good ol’ Quality Peoples..

I’ve been following their well-curated blog for some time and was absolutely thrilled when I visited their site one day to find a full-fledged website. I thought I was pretty done with t-shirts [due partly to age maybe] and was trying to phase all the poorly designed t-shirts out of my closet. But Quality Peoples definitely makes t-shirts cool again. And I want to start wearing t-shirts again! Those guys are rad. QP.. you guys are rad!!

Anyway, a while ago I talked about my love for nose-perching, gracefully sliding women on logs. I’ve been trying my knack at it.. practicing.. trying to perfect my skill. But I firmly believe I look like a caveman when I surf. The photos verify it. And so I’ve decided the art of surfing will probably be a lifelong pursuit for me [as it is probably such for most people].. style being the most important. Because you can surf all you want but if you don’t possess style and grace you’ll look like a banshee every time you’re on a wave. But I don’t mind. It’s not such a bad thing to put all your energy in to and strive for.

Surfing is pretty amazing for all that it is. It’s a sport and an art and a lifestyle. It’s such a critical part of my life that I cannot imagine living a life without the sea and the waves. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to partake in such a beautiful thing.

And I want to sunday slide every sunday!
