PARIS DAZE

(Photos by: my sissy) (Top: Creatures of Comfort, Pants: Étoile Isabel Marant, Scarf: Ratan, Sandals: Cole Rood & Haan, Purse: Comptoir des Cotonniers)

I am still alive! Just barely.. haha. Joking. It has been a whirlwind of a European adventure. So far. I cannot tell you how exhausted I am and still have a few days to go!! I am in desperate need of a vacation from my vacation. The feeling happens every year with these ambitious trips. I also haven’t really had much time to spend on my computer and feel very disconnected from the [cyber] world.

When I get settled back home I will share all the adventures with you: Amsterdam bike rides, Parisian nights, Summer Solstice, Indian-Dutch wedding, etc. etc.

But for now.. I will be partaking in Paris Soldes. That special time of year when all of Paris is a buzz for summer sales sales sales. It’s my first ever. An experience I should have probably worked up towards. I have no idea what I am in for. Hopefully I don’t get trampled by all the French women around here and nab a couple good fashion steals. Wish me luck.

While I mentally prepare for Soldes I also wanted to share a couple of snaps from a day in Paris. Just one day. I cannot believe how much a tourist tries to fit in a day. It’s pretty ridiculous. By the end of this particular day I was pretty sure my feet were going to fall off.

None-the-less.. I love Paris. It puts me in a daze.

GONE ON HOLIDAY

Hi friends. I’m leaving on a jet plane for a European holiday! Actually, I’m sitting at an airport in lieu.. ready to embark on my European adventure. I’m so excited. One of my best friends is getting married!!

Cafés, breweries, old buildings, cobble stone, museums, country side drives, bike rides, shopping. Especially shopping. Soldes in Paris?? Yesssss please!

It’s been several years since I have been from Europe. A lot has changed in me. I think it will be an entirely different experience. I’ve become a little more open minded, somewhat of an experienced traveler, and am no longer a poor college student. I’m not the same person I was on my last trip. Even my skin cells are completely different!

Anyway, if you want to stay updated you can always scroll down to the bottom of this page and take a peek at my Instagram. I will try to update from time to time– internet willing. But hopefully I will be having such a great time I’ll completely forget about the cyber world and get lost in the wonder of being abroad. I’d like to think that means I’m having a really good time. Hehe.

Gotta go catch a plane! Au revoir!

THE SPACES BETWEEN

(Photos from: here)

Some times I happen upon really cool things on the internet. It’s quite a treat when these occasions occur. I recently discovered this amazing online retailer with all the brands and fashion curation that I absolutely love but can never really afford. Naturally I have already built my self a hefty little shopping cart. We all know whether I will actually check out or not.. hah.

Anyway, they had this amazing feature/look book set in a glorious, ominous field with breath-taking backdrops. I cannot quite figure out where it is. It reminds me of a flourishing deserts. A cross between desolation and green recovery. Deserted and reclused except for unusually well-dressed models wearing highly expensive designer clothing. Heh. I love it. I love backdrops like these and fashion like that. It revokes a sense of wonder and melancholy that I sometimes like to embrace. It’s an interesting concept. Like being in between thoughts and places. A little like life sometimes.

Those space between failing and thriving. I think I’m there.

UNDERWATER

(Photos by: TR)

I’ve been underwater in a lot of ways lately. Literally, figuratively, and other unmentionable ways. Work, projects, and actually spending a lot of time underwater. Letting the salt water heal me. All I want to do is spend time in God’s good ocean. [Don't worry. All is well and I am quite content. Just incredibly busy and trying to be a bit poetic about it!]

If you need to chat I’ll be underwater. Beneath the sea. Come find me.

SUMMER STYLING

(Photos by: Brooke Dombroski, Model: Malia Murphey)

I have amazingly talented friends. Gorgeous, amazingly talented friends. Some times I get to sneak in and I try to feel talented too. I recently styled a fun little “May Day” shoot and let me tell you what I learned: styling is hard.

I mean it. It takes a very keen eye and good sense of taste to develop a fashion story. It ain’t easy. It made me realize that maybe I should start spending more time developing my style for styling.

Chuckle if you want but it is like an art. Good styling is pleasing to the eye. It creates a special kind of feeling. It can tell a very good story. Or not. I don’t care what any one else says but having and developing beautiful things makes life so much more.. vivid. More alive. I would love to be good at it. To be a master of beautiful things. Beautiful Things Master. Haha.

So. Let me add to the list of things master: I think it’s going to be a styling summer.

BOTANICAL EXTRACTS

(Photos from: here)

I’m obsessed with prints. All kinds of prints, mixing prints. Ah yes, Especially mix prints. I like it through all the seasons and through the ages. Even when it isn’t in style. Throw in some summer rays and salty sand and I’m set. Floral print stands the test of fashion time. For me anyway. I used to have a ton growing up. Long skirts, floral tops, etc. I wish I could have them all back in my size. But I guess I have to settle for designer florals in the pages of magazines.

Extract me some of that botanical feel.

COUNTRY CRUISING

(Photos by: Cassandra Rull) (Tank: T by Alexander Wang, Shorts: Urban Outfitters, Clutch: Samudra, Bracelets: Dezso by Sara Beltran, Necklace: Tucson Native American Shop, Sunnies: Chloé)

We’re on the country cruise in an effort to support Endless Summer 2012! Hah, just kidding. But not really. Today was one of those lazy days. The waves have come and gone, the wind is a bit too wispy for our liking, and our bellies are full from Sunday eatery sessions [so much for working on my "blogger trying to be a model" body. haha.] We made a quick stop to the beach to check out the wave situation and potential sun-soaking spot and snapped these quickies.

Lately, I have been all about comfy basics. T by Alexander Wang is my go-to brand. He makes the most amazing basics and you just can’t go wrong. I’ve decided that it is way more worth it to spend money on every-day pieces instead of occasion dressings. I’m trying to think economically: the more bang for my buck because I wear it more often. You know? Don’t get me wrong.. I love purchasing a killer going-out dress. But I only wear it once or twice. I’d rather spend a littler more money on everyday wear and feel good about myself on a daily basis.

And this has been a fashion update from your country-living fashion bumpkin. Two things that can co-exist!!

SUMMER IS SWELL

(Photos by: TR)

An unexpected swell hit the country and none of us are complaining! Such a fun little surprise and now we’re all beat. All the muscles in my body hurt. But it is definitely feeling like summer time.. Even with the unexpected waves. The sun, the atmosphere. Wavy days and hot summer nights. My friends and I decided we are going to make it an Endless Summer 2012. I want to to feel like I’m young again and actually have a summer break.

I think it’s gonna be a swell summer!!

SUN SOAKED

(Photos from: here)

I’m a bit overstimulated by the plethora of sun soaked, beached out fashion editorials streaming around the web and in magazines lately. I know it happens every year [come summer] but I get the same amount of excitability every time. Relatable? Heh ehe heh. I’d like to think so.

I wish I had the time to look at them all, the money to buy the magazines, and the [un]laziness to post them all over my walls. There are such amazing, talented people out there. The photographers, the stylists, the models, the makeup/hair artists. I live in a similar lifestyle but when I see these editorials I forget and find myself longing for the sea and sun. Maybe not as fabulous, but definitely just as much skin damage and salt water. Ha ha.

The joy of being in the sea and sun soaked.
