IN THE PARK

Hello all. Sorry for the repeated absence. I’m currently on a vacation from my vacation and there is a lack of internet and technology in the area. Just what I need and it feels so good. So. Over the next couple of days [or so] I will be updating on my travels. Get ready. It’s enough content to keep me busy for days. I get exhausted just looking at the photos.

Packing for Paris.

Packing and preparing for trips can be tough. For me anyway. You get a lot of advice when you go on trips abroad: Pack light, bring cash, don’t talk to strangers, buy one of those terrible hide-your-valuables wallet that you keep on the inside of your shirt, etc. etc. etc. But I have to say that the best advice given was by none other than my parents: dress like you’re poor and no one will bother you. Hahaha!

It’s a brilliant idea. But it posed a threat for my attempts of being fashionable abroad. After this particular trip I have learned one thing: simplicity. Something I think the Parisian have mastered and what makes them so effortlessly chic. But without gems and statement threads my outfits can easily look pretty dumpy. And don’t talk to me about layering. The weather in Europe can be so fickle and I am horrible at layering clothing without looking frumpy!! But I had to leave behind a lot of clothing I thought would look amazing in the streets of Paris and give up my favorite statement jewelry pieces for  basic tees and simple studs. But you know the funny thing? I ended up wearing these simple gems everyday and its simplicity was a statement in itself. People some times [ok once or twice] mistook me for being a Parisian mademoiselle and I actually got compliments too! Imagine that.

In a nutty: I had to balance on a fine line between homeless chic and simplicity. But I guess I was taking my parents advice to heart. I had no issue feeling threatened by pick-pocketers or the like. Thank goodness.

Simplicity in the park.
