A while ago a friend of mine introduced me to Solange Knowles blog– an intimate diary chronicling her travels and not-so-oridinary life. And if I understand correctly most of [if not all] her photos are shot in film. I am pretty sure they all are because the quality has a worn, intimate and nostalgia appeal. I love it. I was glued to each page, examining every photo the first time I went to her blog. Her sense of style, designer filled wardrobe, keen eye for photography, and wanderlust lifestyle puts me to shame. Now all I want to do is blow my wad on a killer wardrobe, say goodbye to my life on the islands, grab my loaded camera, and hit the road. Hopefully I can gain a killer afro [or weave] along the way.
But I think Solange is so much more than a fashionable, photogenic celebutante. I read a number of comments on her blog and she has such a positive and influential impact on girls and women all over the world. But what I think is incredibly valuable is her ability to empower girls/women of her heritage. She has a very prolific and keen way of showing her ethnic pride but still able to reach a wide audience [including myself.]
I selected a few photos from her most recent posts but I definitely suggest scrolling through each and every page of her blog. It will blow you away. I’ve already taken notes on things to buy and places to go. Just joking. But you get my point. Her little photo dairy offers an intimate glance into a very unique life. Something definitely worth blogging about.
Solange Knowles.. her damn blog.
