New York Fashion Week is here and in full effect!! Although I wish I could be there [to take it all in] I have to settle for online streaming. Which is probably better any way.. taking that I would probably have to sneak into shows to get a peek at Spring 2013. Haha.
But while I was browsing through some of the recent fashion shows I was pleasantly surprised to find that Mara Hoffman was inspired by none other than Hawaii nei! It would come as no surprise to most that the whole tropical/island theme has been very heavily trending. Big time. But I feel like Ms. Hoffman really took a different [more unique] approach this time around. I especially love how she used the stylized botanical appliqué designs much like the patterns used in Hawaiian quilts.
Top off the show with a ukulele band, coconut frond headdresses and well-mixed music and you’ve got yourself fashion paradise.
Mara Hoffman does such an amazing job at mixing colors, patterns, and silhouettes. Every time. Her collections are always bright and full of life. You cannot help but be drawn to it. I absolutely love how she stays so true to her style and design aesthetic.. even if it isn’t the direction that fashion is going in. The instant you see one of her pieces you know it’s Mara Hoffman. And I think that really shows through to her audience. I don’t know any one that doesn’t like her clothing.
I wish I could have been there. But.. Aloha from Hawaii to New York!!

Wow, I really like these fashions by Mara Hoffman! I can actually picture real people, in Hawaii, wearing them.
