I have been spending a lot of time in the desert lately. Mostly because my sister lives in Arizona but seriously. The desert? No ocean? As I write this, I am hanging in downtown Tucson having a Ginger Beer at a local pub. It's weird.
But before and after our girls trip into Havasupai [in March] we made a couple extra stops along the way. These stops included Antelope Canyon, The Grand Canyon, and a little hiatus in Tucson. Imagine. 6 girls crammed in a van with only 2-passenger seats for hours on end. It's do-able. Especially with a cosy queen-sized bed in the back. We made good use of the space and managed to sleep all of us for a couple nights. You can imagine how that worked out. And it did work out. Just fine.
I'm not as small minded about the desert as you would think. I like actually really like it. I don't need to be at the ocean all the time [I miss it a whole lot when I'm away from it though.] But I like a little adventure. It is so different and far beyond the type of living I am used to. It is a lifestyle that is the complete opposite of ocean life. And I think it is important to enjoy and experience those sorts of things.
Hanging in the desert with your best girlfriends is pretty damn fun. So much laughter, inside jokes, and bonding happens. And I can only hope it will happen again.
We were desert dwellers.
