Iʻm always inspired by fashion editorials that incorporate travel and some sense of adventure. I am especially drawn to those that imply safari adventures. Which makes me realize that Africa may be a travel destination I should explore more seriously.

But besides its assumed wanderlust I love how this Marie Claire Netherlands editorial was styled. Headbands, boots, khaki, and animal print. Right up my alley. I am really digging the layering and one-pieces too. From a graphic perspective I am really digging the way it was laid out. Animal spottings and travel clippings?? Yes and yes. Such a perfect combination of travel and fashion.

Out of Africa and in with style.

Yes yes yes! Scuba gear and more than just a touch of neon color in an editorial?? I’m in. I’m still trying to get over my traveling blues. I’m not quite sure if this is helping or not. Either way.. you gotta love when the fashion world recognizes the unique quality of the ocean and all the activities people partake in it.

PARRY

I have been a huge fan of Jason Lee Parry’s work for quite some time. You’ve probably seen his work in Foam Magazine and other substantial publications. Rightfully so. He has a beautiful way of telling a story and evoking strong characters with his subjects. I suddenly feel like I always wanted to be a beautiful [topless] biker chick. And that’s what I mean. Through his photographs he is able to create these very desirable [and believable] characters that transcend beyond fashion. Essentially, he’s capturing a lifestyle at its very best without seeming contrived.

Even better.. he shoots almost all his photos in film. That’s huge. We live in such an instantaneous world that there is something very authentic about his work because of it. Fashion shoots in film? Unheard of. I love it.

OFF THE BEATEN TRAIL

After seeing these images from Cosmopolitan Australia’s December issue I am very ready to be home. Hawaii here I come again! Being in the cold for so long [yeah yeah two weeks big deal] I completely forgot what it feels like to be warm and half nude in a bikini. Sunkissed and free spirited. I wanna be there again. These images are so enticing. This is exactly how I imagine it to be in for the next couple weeks. Wardrobe and body included, please.

I’m ready to go back to paradise and go off the beaten trail for a while!

HOT HEAT

Nothing like a little bit of color popping fashion, exposed skin and drops of sweat as we approach the winter season. This is my favorite time of the year for fashion. Not because I get to indulge in wintery fashion of the northern hemisphere but because it’s when places like Brazil get to shine into summer. Those southerns always seem to do summer a little better.

And what a novel idea: colorful fringe on the beach. I’m also really into the neon Coca-Cola cropped top. I’m about to get myself tangled up on Ebay to find myself some old shirt to revamp.

Enjoying this moment of hot heat as we go into winter.

LOST HIGHWAY

I am so looking forward to this movie and thrilled that they captured the essence of highway living in a fashion editorial! If you don’t know what movie I’m talking about than get ready for this years cult favorite; On The Road. A flick based of the novel [by Jack Kerouac] that defined a generation in the late 50′s and is gonna rock our generation too. I currently have the book in my purse and intend to read it for the second time in preparation for the movie.

I hope the fashions in the movie are just as good as this editorial. I love when they can incorporate current fashion trends and [fall] season with a time period spread. And I really hope Garrett Hedlund looks that good too. I’m not usually the kind of girl that lusts over celebrity and famous persons but my goodness does that guy shine. He has this unassuming and strong quality about him. And those eyes are piercing. He had me at Friday Night Lights even with an unattractive mullet. But I digress. This isn’t that kind of blog. Haha.

More importantly, Kerouac’s words from this particular book [and now movie] are words that I [want] live by and what really lights a fire in me:

“The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes ‘Awww!’ ”

MAILLE NAME IS BOMB

These images are perfect. It’s the perfect transition editorial from summer to fall fashion.. especially for the beach goer. Crochet bikini’s and chunky knits. That’s exactly how I’d like to see myself dressing for those chilly winter days on the beach. I’m pretty sure this is going to be my inspirational images for this winters fashion. By far.

Zippora Seven makes everything look so effortlessly… cool. She’s one of those models of our generation that makes fashion seem a little more accessible. A little more real. I suddenly feel like I can afford a $300 crochet swimsuit if I wanted to. But that doesn’t downgrade her appeal. At all. I think it makes her that much better. Her raw and real looks speak in a honest way without making fashion seem like it’s only reserved for an elite group of people. You and me can be a part of it all too. I love that.

Oh, and Biarritz.. I’m coming for you!!!

THE FREE SPIRIT

Wooweeee long live America. I am ready to resign from my beach life in Hawaii and go out [south] west to live on the open range like a free spirited cowboy.. cowgirl. Or I could just get me one of those hats and make pretend. It looks like a traditional cowboy hat but not quite. Right? Like a cross between a cowboy and amish. I think. I could be wrong and not really informed on culture hat knowledge but it is looking pretty hip. Makes more sense.. to go with the hipster hat.

But I also think the new trend for makeup and beauty should be the dirty faced look. I think it is a good look. I’m kind of half joking and it may just be that I got suckered into this whole editorial and the imagery they’re portraying.. but doesn’t it look cool?? I’m probably not be a good advocate for makeup and beauty trending though. I have no sense of all that. I think a good remedy for your skin is putting seaweed straight from the ocean on to your face. That’s it. But what do I know??

Anyway, this is an amazing editorial. It’s such a great mix of western and native American. A cultural and fashionable juxtaposition. Medicine bag accessories and slouchy cowboy attire. I’m a sucker for the country look and an even bigger sucker for horses. They are one of the most beautiful creatures that ever graced this earth. Put that all together and you’ve got yourself a mess of fashion radness.

So. Free spirits and beautiful horses= amazing fashion story.

SUN SOAKED

I’m a bit overstimulated by the plethora of sun soaked, beached out fashion editorials streaming around the web and in magazines lately. I know it happens every year [come summer] but I get the same amount of excitability every time. Relatable? Heh ehe heh. I’d like to think so.

I wish I had the time to look at them all, the money to buy the magazines, and the [un]laziness to post them all over my walls. There are such amazing, talented people out there. The photographers, the stylists, the models, the makeup/hair artists. I live in a similar lifestyle but when I see these editorials I forget and find myself longing for the sea and sun. Maybe not as fabulous, but definitely just as much skin damage and salt water. Ha ha.

The joy of being in the sea and sun soaked.
