Back to life in the slow lane for the holidays! Morning surf, downtown cruising, and lounging around all day. Just the way I like it! I’ve probably said it before but every time I come back to Hilo I always wish I could stay. Everything is so much slower and no one is in a hurry to do anything in particular. If the world was at it’s end yesterday I would have been happy to spend it here. Heh.

So you’ve probably seen that flannel around quite a bit. A while ago I paid homage to my overuse of it. And I never had any interest in finding another [besides borrowing from my mans closet]. Although they are quite handy this one has served me right. I feel like [in my own small way] I am being minimalistic. It’s one of my classics. That’s very Hilo of me. Hah hah!

Also, I scored my Mara Hoffman jumper a while ago but never got a chance to exploit it. It’s the perfect little beach coverup. And so comfortable. It’s one of those articles of clothing that I could take on any tropical destination. Something I have packed for an upcoming trip.. south!!

GETAWAY PRINTS

If you were looking for a visual overload you found it! Mara Hoffman just released her Resort 2013 swimwear and ready-to-wear collection and it’s a whopper! As you probably guessed I’ve already built myself a shopping cart with all the new items [and a few items that have gone on sale. duh.]

Her prints are amazing. If you work and/or live by the fashion industry [and think you have the same design aesthetic] you are probably pinching yourself. I probably have bruises on my arm from pinching myself so much. I keep hoping I’ll zap back to “reality” and realize that my name is Mara and I’m an amazingly talented designer. Hahaha. Don’t we all wish we had a single pore that extruded that kind of creativity?!! All of her prints are hand drawn. Hand drawn!! That’s how you always know it’s a Mara dress and/or bikini. No one else can replicate that kind of art!

The day my entire wardrobe is Mara Hoffman I can die a happy [and stylish] woman. How amazing would it be to go on vacation [maybe the Caribbean by yacht??] and be decked out in those prints? They definitely deserve to be on every trendy girls Christmas list and eventually packed in a suitcase for a tropical destination. Her clothing is the perfect getaway attire. And if you’re not going on vacation you’ll sure feel like you’re on one when you were it!

HOLST + LEE | STATEMENT PIECES

Pretty obsessed with Holst + Lee Jewelry/Accessories line ever since I saw it styled on the Mara Hoffman Spring 2012 Fashion Show. I’m gonna try and  get my hands on at least one piece when I’m New York.. might need to sell a liver but whatever. Maybe I’ll even try to sneak to the showroom just to touch/see/feel?! Haha. They’re pretty fab. I must say. I think they would be great Christmas gifts.. actually. You know, because I wouldn’t mind getting one as a stocking stuffer or something. Hint hint. Magnets and beads and and intricate threading and colors. Heck yes.

Appropriate statement pieces for the fashionable island girl. Heh.

MARA HOFFMAN | LOS MUERTOS

I know that this is probably so outdated.. yeah yeah.. fashion week was in September and we’ve all moved on to February already. I’m behind. But I am obsessed with Mara Hoffman’s Spring 2011 collection. Inspired by Mexican prints and embroidery.. right up my embellishment alley. I want one in everything please. Oh, and don’t even get me started on her swim collection. I could stare at them all day. And then buy it. And then wear it all day. Everything.

For me, this a consumer and a designers dream.
