RONKY TONKIN’

(Coat: All Saints, Denim Shirt: Madewell, Tee: Vince, Denim: Rag & Bone, Belt: purchased in Norway, boots: via Anthropologie)

Believe it or not there is a country [line-dancing] bar in the area and we went cow-girlin’ for a night  last week. The name of the bar is actually called Rocky Tonk but it has since been renamed to Ronky Tonk for several reasons. One of them being the blatant error in pronunciation and the other being it’s association to thrifted [and overly bedazzled] denim jackets handpicked for future Ronky occasions.

But more importantly.. I finally had good reason to wear my latest boots purchase [besides clunking around on the plane over because it couldn't fit in my luggage]. If you remember from previous fashion obsessed posts I had talked about wanting them. I thought the likelihood of the purchase was pretty slim [since I have been trying only to buy essentials for a while] but they went on sale! I couldn’t help myself. I love a good sale.

It was perfect for the occasion. Although the heel was a little high to be getting my yeehawing on but it did the job. I learned new moves in my new fancy boots and got my two-step on for sure!

There is something so fun about country music and line dancing. Besides the sense of energy and cheesy [and sometimes poorly written] love songs I think it has a lot to do with the culture that is incredibly unique to America. Makes you feel a certain connection to it all. You know? Like you are somehow [automatically] apart of it. It just makes you want to have a good time!

I wanna ronky tonk all night!

IN JACKSONVILLE

(Coat: All Saints, Jacket: Rag & Bone, Top: Cut25, Pants: Cut25, Boots: J Shoes)

We went on a little day excursion to Jacksonville.. a quaint little town tucked in the west hills. It’s one of those places where you want to dress a little more dapper to fit in with all the [beautiful] historic buildings. I love the main street with all of it’s old red brick buildings. Especially how it blends with the changing leaves.

Our main purpose was to snap some family photos for the holidays. It’s such a great location for that sort of thing. Thankfully it was a really clear and beautiful day so wearing fancy [silk] pants wasn’t that big of an issue. I bought those pants [along with the top] while I was in New York at the Cut25 store in the Soho area. I absolutely love them. I love them so much I bought the matching top. Haha. I surely will not be wearing them together. I would look like a crazy white girl trying to dress like an African prince. Not that there is anything wrong with that but definitely not a good look for me.

It was such a beautiful day. Top it off with a few stops at the local boutiques, a stroll down California Street,  and sipping on coffee street side. The perfect little excursion.

Spending a day in Jacksonville.

HANGING WITH PIÑA

The Adventures of Piña the Pineapple
(Photos by: Cassandra Rull) (Jacket: Rag & Bone, Top: J. Crew, Jeans: Current/Elliot, Sandals: Rood & Haan Co., Nail Polish: Essie)

Like I said before.. I’ve been incredibly busy [super duper busy] lately and haven’t spent nearly as much time as I’d like scouring the internet for cool things. My days on the internet have boiled down to tumblr via my phone. Ladyslider has been lacking.. I know. And I’m sorry. It makes me so sad to see the days go by and this poor little space on the world wide web go untouched. It makes me really sad.

On another note, I have been buzzing around and working on this new project.. that I am sure you will see really soon. One of the things I am working on involved a pineapple. So I buzzed over to Foodland on the North Shore for a quick coffee/snack break and picked up who I now call Piña. I decided that she had a story to tell.. so I took her on a little adventure. She got to hang out with Cassandra for lunch, watch the waves for a bit, eat some poke, from Kahuku Superette etc. etc. She had a great time. Hehe.

But now that I hung with Piña over the weekend I don’t have the heart to eat her!!

INTO WINTER

(Rag & Bone Duffle Coat with Leather Trim, Wool & the Gang Snood Dog DIY Knit Scarf, T by Alexander Wang Single Pocket Long Sleeve Tee, Mulberry Leather Weekend Bag, Cobra Society Hand-Woven Wool and Brushed Leather Thigh Boots, Bottega Veneta Nero Suede Gloves)

I thought it would be appropriate to start looking into the idea of winter clothing. I’ll be traveling to some cold places over the next couple of months and should be prepared!! Who said a Mulberry bag is a little outrageous for a travel bag?! And Bottega Veneta gloves??? Pffft!! Totally necessary.. I think. But what is definitely the coolest item in the batch is the Wool and the Gang DIY scarf. I can knit my scarf on the plane beforehand!! Genius!

I’ll be drooling about staying warm with these items into the winter season..
