GETAWAY PRINTS

If you were looking for a visual overload you found it! Mara Hoffman just released her Resort 2013 swimwear and ready-to-wear collection and it’s a whopper! As you probably guessed I’ve already built myself a shopping cart with all the new items [and a few items that have gone on sale. duh.]

Her prints are amazing. If you work and/or live by the fashion industry [and think you have the same design aesthetic] you are probably pinching yourself. I probably have bruises on my arm from pinching myself so much. I keep hoping I’ll zap back to “reality” and realize that my name is Mara and I’m an amazingly talented designer. Hahaha. Don’t we all wish we had a single pore that extruded that kind of creativity?!! All of her prints are hand drawn. Hand drawn!! That’s how you always know it’s a Mara dress and/or bikini. No one else can replicate that kind of art!

The day my entire wardrobe is Mara Hoffman I can die a happy [and stylish] woman. How amazing would it be to go on vacation [maybe the Caribbean by yacht??] and be decked out in those prints? They definitely deserve to be on every trendy girls Christmas list and eventually packed in a suitcase for a tropical destination. Her clothing is the perfect getaway attire. And if you’re not going on vacation you’ll sure feel like you’re on one when you were it!

SUNDAY SLIDING

Spent my Sunday playing in the waves and getting major skin damage [my buttocks and lower back got nailed by the sun.] Thankfully, that handy-dandy shirt I’m wearing helped protect the rest of my body courtesy of good ol’ Quality Peoples..

I’ve been following their well-curated blog for some time and was absolutely thrilled when I visited their site one day to find a full-fledged website. I thought I was pretty done with t-shirts [due partly to age maybe] and was trying to phase all the poorly designed t-shirts out of my closet. But Quality Peoples definitely makes t-shirts cool again. And I want to start wearing t-shirts again! Those guys are rad. QP.. you guys are rad!!

Anyway, a while ago I talked about my love for nose-perching, gracefully sliding women on logs. I’ve been trying my knack at it.. practicing.. trying to perfect my skill. But I firmly believe I look like a caveman when I surf. The photos verify it. And so I’ve decided the art of surfing will probably be a lifelong pursuit for me [as it is probably such for most people].. style being the most important. Because you can surf all you want but if you don’t possess style and grace you’ll look like a banshee every time you’re on a wave. But I don’t mind. It’s not such a bad thing to put all your energy in to and strive for.

Surfing is pretty amazing for all that it is. It’s a sport and an art and a lifestyle. It’s such a critical part of my life that I cannot imagine living a life without the sea and the waves. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to partake in such a beautiful thing.

And I want to sunday slide every sunday!

THE BOTTOM LINE

A couple of things I’ve realized within the last couple of days:

1. I don’t know how to “model”.. I don’t like to “model”.. so I laugh in all my photos.

2. I’m obsessed with bottoms. Any kind of bottoms.

I actually don’t mean to be obsessed with bottoms. I really need new tops. My shirt/blouse/t-shirt wardrobe has been eaten alive by cheeky little bugs on a vengeance. But I somehow always find bottoms. I found these Tori Praver Swimwear bottoms on sale and had to get them. Floral, feminine, and ruched. Perfecto beach lounging bikini bottom. I actually don’t own any string bikini’s because I thought my hips gushed out of them. But these somehow work. Not complaining.

In that respect, I don’t think we should ever limit ourselves in fashion, style, clothing, etc. etc. etc. Actually, don’t limit yourself in anything. But that’s a whole another ball of butter.

The bottom line is.. I’m loving these bikini bottoms!

MIKOH | BIKINI MADNESS

Got a chance to meet the lovely Kalani from Mikoh Swimwear and was surprised when I got to get my nylon/spandex fix on!!  Oh you know, just spending the money that I should be spending on Christmas presents. But it was so worth it. That girl was loaded with swimsuits it was all incredibly over-stimulating! I nearly had a heart attack.

Mikoh is pretty amazing. The fit is so flattering and comfortable. I wish I could have got every style in my size!! I’m especially obsessed with the little high-waisted number. That bad boy is going to go from beach to fashion until it is falling apart. I can’t wait to catch some waves during the day and keep it on into the night under a sheer skirt!!!

So I’ve got to say.. I’m pretty mad about Mikoh!!
