GIVE ME A TEE

give-me-a-tee-1give-me-a-tee-2give-me-a-tee-3give-me-a-tee-4I am SO happy to announce that I finally have the Cold Coconut Cropped Tee available for pre-order purchase on my SHOP! They are 100% soft cotton and a great comfy fit! Just in time for summer and those laid back beach days. I’m keeping one in every color! They are also available exclusively at my Ladyslider Pop-Up Shop at SpecialME in Waikiki.

So besides my online shop and the pop-up.. you won’t be able to find these anywhere else! You better get yourself one before “coconut” is no longer one those trend words. And you don’t want to be one of those untrendy people wearing a Cold Coconut tee!

So give me a tee.. and get a Cold Coconut Tee while they’re hot!

A DAY ON THE NORTH SHORE

(Video from: here)

Before I get deep into my Australia traveling logs I wanted to share something with you. Long, long overdue. Back when I opened my Pop-Up Shop with SpecialME we did a little video to go along with it. With all the hustle and bustle and last minute booking to Australia I never got a chance to share it with you. So here it is. Bad surfing, good filming/edit.

Enjoy and don’t forget to check out the SpecialME store in Waikiki for all the other pop-up shop goodies. It’s only around for one more month! So get on down there!

But for now.. enjoy a day on the north shore with a ladyslider.

THE OPENING

the-opening-1the-opening-8the-opening-2the-opening-3the-opening-4the-opening-5the-opening-6the-opening-7the-opening-9(Photos: Various, but mostly by my mom)

The whirlwind is finally done and opening night is over! I had a great night serving friends Pogmosa’s and talking to Japanese magazine/press peeps in code [I really need to learn Nihongo.] It has been a crazy last couple of days. I was almost sure it wasn’t going to come together. But it did. Oh my gosh, it did!

The biggest disappointment of the night: my lack of attention to photo-taking. It must have been from the lack of sleep and excitement of other bodies in the building [people actually came!] But I wish I had spent a little more time watching people, taking photos, and capturing moments. I really wanted to show you folks the process, the details, the stress, the blood, the breakdown moments, the snack table, the excitement, etc. I even brought my Fuji Instax to capture moments. I should have snapped a photo of a photo. There were some good ones. Bah. I wish I could have showed it all to you! At least my mom got in on some of the action!

If you didn’t get a chance to check it out on opening night it will still be there for a whole two and a half months. That gives you a lot of time to take a look. No excuses.

The opening night of Ladyslider for SpecialME. A success I think!

ENDLESS SUMMER

(Photos from: here)

When I saw the first photos of this little Waikiki photo shoot from Daeja Fallas herself [via Instagram] I couldn’t help feeling like I was in intermediate school again. I felt the same exact way I did when I decided to start surfing. I was completely inspired by Roxy’s ad campaigns and wanted to wear a hula skirt at the very birthplace of surfing. I totally bought into that whole lifestyle. I would be lying if I told you I didn’t feel the same way right now. Here I am feeling like a 12 year old girl.. ready to buy a $75 beater surfboard  and brave the whitewash. I might even have to go to Queens tomorrow for good measure. But we’ll see.

I love seeing images like this. It even makes me a little envious and a part of me wishes I was there with a lei around my neck too! Which means the photographs were depicted perfectly. Rightfully so. I recommend checking out the rest of DF’s photographs. She’s an amazing photographer with a unique [but relatable] point of view.

For those of you dreaming of an endless summer in Waikiki.. find it here.

ROAM FREE HAWAII

(See more: here)

I have a lot to share about my recent travels but before I do I wanted to let you guys peek at an exclusive viewing of the new Roam Hawaii look book for summer.

These are a couple of amazing, beautiful, talented island sisters. Too many adjectives?? Too bad. Each and every one is well deserved. All of these girls designs are handmade in Hawaii and they work extra hard to make sure they are made with aloha.

Check them out if you can. You’re going to want one of everything. Maybe two. Just in case.

ON ROTATION

(Photos by: TR) (Top: SUNO, Bottoms: 18th Amendment, Head Scarf: Vintage, Sandals: Rood & Haan Co., Jewelry: Hinu, Dezso, and Michele Leong)

My accessories were on high rotation over the weekend. I pretty much ended up wearing the same thing every day. Not because I had no other choice or anything like that. The whole accessory getup seemed appropriate for the weekend.. especially the head scarf turned turban. It is a functionality and decorative aspect of summer style for myself. It keeps my seaweed hair out of the way and adds a bit of color and dimension to any of my outfits. I’m especially keen on finding vintage scarves. They are really hard to come by. I’ll search any where from Savers, Salvation Army and the occasional Ebay browse. When you find a good one it’s like finding gold!!

Anyway, these quick snaps were taken right before we rushed down to the pool. I cannot remember the last time I lounged at any pool let alone order drinks and pupu’s. Can you tell I’m not used to that kind of life?? Haha. Most of the time you’ll find me in my little hut in the country sitting on a futon munching on granola or something. Hah. But it was such a nice treat. Maybe I could move to Bali and have that lifestyle for real?! But that’s a whole other category of possibilities.

So into the summer with my accessories on high rotation!

FASHION ON STAYCATION

(Photos by: TR) (Top: Roxy, Pants: India Street Find, Bikini Top: Raisin by Roxy, Head Scarf: Vintage, Jewelry: Hinu, Dezso, Michele Leong, Pouch: Samudra)

I got to spend the Memorial Day weekend in Waikiki for a little “staycation”.. something rarely done. And so I guess this is what fashion looks like when you’re on vacation on your home island?? Hah.. a little bit of this and that pulled together. I literary grabbed a bunch of stuff from my closet and threw it into a bag hoping it would all work out. No thought or pre-meditated fashion here! I suppose it did work in its own way.. a gypsy kind of way.

I have to admit: I forgot how beautiful Waikiki and it’s ocean is. All different shades of blue speckled with people on boards, yachts, and canoes. It’s kind of nice to be relaxing by the pool with live Hawaiian music playing. No wonder tourists buy into it so much!

It was such a nice little getaway. I’d hope to think it will happen more.
