IN REMISSION

in-remission-1in-remission-2(Photos by: Brooklyn Hawaii)

I have not gotten 2013 off to a good start.. physically. In between a minor concussion [from GoPro blow to the head] whilst air-mattress surfing and injuring my knee with a lackluster explanation 2013 is definitely trying to tell me something. I’m getting older.

On the bright side it has given opportunity to more beach lounging, sister pow wows, and creative endeavors. For the next couple weeks I will not be distracted by the surf forecast and other things that involve use of my major limbs [I guess my head doesn't count. bleh.] But I do have to get out of my south pacific funk and remember I am back in the real world. It’s hustle time. No more lounging on motu’s and carelessly swimming in lagoons! Which is perfectly fine and I have come to terms with it. Time to work on those New Years resolutions and check things off my list! Let the creative juices flow and business-woman-attitude reign!!

In [physical] remission until further notice. Now pumping on [creative] iron!!

FLOAT ON

(Photos by: TR) (Top: Design by me; made in India)

I finally feel like I’m getting back in to the groove of things. I don’t know what it is [and maybe I can blame my age] but I feel like it takes me a tad longer to recover from long trips than it used to. I’m such a hag. 25 going on 65. I still have heaps to share from my travels and I also made a brief stop in Hilo for yet another wedding! Maybe you’ll get a sneaky at that one too. But I know.. blah blah blah about travels. It probably sounds so redundant by now.

On another note: it feels so good to dip into the sea.

The top I’m wearing is one of my most favored articles of clothing. It has a lot of meaning. I got the orchid fabric from a trip I took to Vancouver, randomly bought the hippo fabric online [yes, hippos! such cute little guys!], traveled to india, and had the whole shebang made into a blouse by a cute old man with big glasses in Jaipur. So I guess that makes it multi-cultural. Eheh heh. Not only are the fabrics gorgeous.. but it tells a story and holds traveling memories for me.

Now I’m back to the grind! And we’ll all float on..

UNDERWATER

(Photos by: TR)

I’ve been underwater in a lot of ways lately. Literally, figuratively, and other unmentionable ways. Work, projects, and actually spending a lot of time underwater. Letting the salt water heal me. All I want to do is spend time in God’s good ocean. [Don't worry. All is well and I am quite content. Just incredibly busy and trying to be a bit poetic about it!]

If you need to chat I’ll be underwater. Beneath the sea. Come find me.

ON THE PIER

(Photos by: Michele Leong and me; ON ME: Shirt: Club Monaco, Shorts: True Religion, Shoes: Missoni for Target, Jewelry: Various. ON MICHELE: Various shopping finds)

Had a little mid-week getaway with the talented artisan Michele Leong at the He’eia Kea Pier in Kaneohe. It has been a long time since I ventured out to that particular part of the island. It makes me feel so blessed to call Hawaii my home. It is almost like this little piece of island treasure got lost in time. Grandpa’s fishing off the docks, gourmet-plate lunch style meal at the waters edge, and other than the sound of peoples voices.. all you can hear is the lapping of the water and the breeze grazing passed your ears. Whatever stress or “things-to-do” list I had in my head seemed to blow away with the sea breeze when we rolled up to the old pier.

I feel incredibly inspired now and I have so many ideas brewing in my head.

I will definitely be back to draw inspiration.. on the pier.
