Life has been a collection of special moments and fun little adventures lately. The kind of moments and adventures that summer is made of.
You know one of the little things I love about Hawai'i?? 7-11 Stores. So I know most states don't hold 7-11 to the same high esteem that Hawai'i does. I really think it's because they don't have fresh maki sushi made by little old Japanese ladies and other island only goodies. Ahhh, the spam musubi's. Not exactly sure who makes those but I haven't had one in a long time and it was SO ONO when I did the other day. Going to 7-11 to stock up on beach snacks reminded me of being a kid again. We used to always stop at 7-11 for snacks before and/or after the beach. Slurpees, manapua, sushi, a bag of Maui onion chips, li hing mui sour patch kids, the works. 7-11 definitely has more street cred in Hawai'i than anywhere else.
We've also been getting these fun little freak swells on the North Shore. A little uncommon for this time of year but I'm not complaining. My board hasn't quite collected the amount of dust I thought it would this past month. Instead I collected a pretty big ding from a kook [who apparently has been surfing since "before I was born."] Can't imagine all that wave time amounted to much judging by the gapping hole at the bottom of my log. But if that is all I have to complain about.. life ain't so bad.
Beach time, lei making, 7-11 snacks, hanging with friends, and plenty of waves. I could have sworn I was 19 again.
Here and there and everywhere.
