Someone recently asked me, "Weren't you wearing that last night?" Now, I could have been really embarrassed about the situation. Because the answer is half of a yes. But no, it's not what you think. I wasn't shamefully wearing the same outfit from the night before. Instead, my outfit looked almost identical to the one I was wearing that day.
That's because I have a uniform. If you haven't already figured it out: White tops on denim. Tank tops and baggy jeans. Basic Tees and high-waisted shorts. Oversized silk shirts and baggy distressed shorts. All white on the top, all denim on the bottom. It's like a bad habit. Or a fashionable version of a well-dressed janitor.
I'd like to think of it as the easiest way to get dressed and still be fashionable. I've got the canvas set-up now all I need is some exceptional paint. That might be a really bad analogy but I am talking about accessorizing. Yes, accessories. As long as I have a good, classic look I can always give it a little flair with the extra stuff. Jewelry, sunglasses, a clutch, and a good pair of shoes. Always a good pair of shoes. I recently scored my Rag & Bone Harrow Boots at Barney's and so stoked on the purchase. No, not purchase.. investment. And for me.. changes the entire look of my janitorial style.
So the next time you see me don't assume my outfit is on repeat. I've just got a thing.. a uniform. And it works for me!
