I always liked the idea if being a skater. When I was younger I always had crushes on one of the skater boys. I mean, duh.
Some people think surfing and skateboarding are similar. But they’re not [in my opinion.] Skaters have always been a little more gritty and raw to me. They get sweaty, eat shit a lot, and break a lot of rules [and bones obviously]. Rebels.. in a good way. You can’t really break a lot of rules when you’re surfing. While skaters are sneaking into peoples backyard to skate empty swimming pools.. the worst thing that could happen to a surfer is walking on hot sand on the way down to the beach. Just kidding [you know I am]. I know surfers are always putting themselves in way gnarlier situations to get waves. But you get my point. Skateboarders are always running away from chubby security guards and finding creative ways to get their wheels turning [and flipping I guess].
Basically, skateboarding is super cool.
But in all honesty.. skating is such a different realm for me. It’s not like riding a bike [or a surfboard.. to be more relevant to the old saying.] I’ll never forget being convinced to bomb a hill, getting speed wobbles, and doing a couple somersaults before landing straight on my back at the bottom of the hill. So yeah. I’m not really gnarly. I don’t like going downhill and I sure as hell don’t try any fancy tricks.
And I'm gonna be honest.. not so great.
So.. I like to cruise. I’m usually barefoot, wearing a bikini, and riding fun little boards.. like this sweet little Penny Skateboard I just got! It’s the perfect little board to throw in the back of my truck and alway have handy. I treat it like a mini longboard and try get my toes over the nose or do little retro turns. It suits me perfectly.
This cute little orange board has inspired me to start skating more. So if you ever want to go for a cruise or skate around the neighbor.. holler!
Ride with me.
